writing is my life preserver.

Losing my dog, Tovi, broke me.

As a lifelong journaler, I found myself writing, writing, and writing some more during the lead-up and aftermath of his death.

Tovi was in the Pet ER for an extended period of time. To stay connected to him, I wrote him “notes” and asked staff to place them in a Ziploc bag hanging from his hospital "cage." I wanted to remind him how much I loved him and of the good times we had, and those still to come.

Sadly, he didn't recover, but the writing continued.

I found that writing was not only a way to process my pain, but also a way to memorialize him and preserve the moments of our life together. I began to refer to my writing as “Pet Therapy Notes."  I discovered the power of the pen on paper in healing, and I want to share that with you. In Write Your Story, you will find my insights into the writing process and journaling/writing prompts.
